The second half of last Friday’s livestream was devoted to my monthly Q&A session with John McWhorter. We had many rich questions, but I wanted to share with all my readers and viewers this trio of questions. One asks whether Trump’s more inflammatory remarks about his liberal countrymen are so beyond the pale as to constitute un-Americanism. Another asks whether Trump supporters who refuse to acknowledge that he has any shortcomings at all suffer from their own brand of Trump Derangement Syndrome. And the other asks whether we’re seeing our era’s sharp political polarization softening.
John and I famously disagree about Trump and the nature of his presidency, and this segment sees us clashing again (though with good humor). While I concede that anyone who reflexively supports all of Trump’s policies and statements—no matter how outré—is suffering their own form of derangement, TDS is real and it infects even otherwise intelligent, thoughtful people, like my friend John. (John, of course, considers his position sensible.) And I cannot agree that even Trump’s most vulgar attacks on his real and perceived opponents constitute un-Americanism. I may not like the style of his invective, and I don’t think liberals are any less American than I am, but Trump seems to believe he is defending his country when he unleashes his id on Truth Social. He goes too far, but I understand the spirit of his commentary.
Elon Musk has offered on X to personally cover Transportation Security Administration salaries as a Department of Homeland Security funding lapse stretches beyond a month, underscoring mounting strain on the agency. ICE personnel have been deployed to airports to support security operations, allowing TSA agents to focus on screenings, though Congress remains divided on DHS funding as a potential deal begins to take shape. On Ground News, the story appears as a Blindspot for the left, with left-leaning outlets emphasizing worker hardship and institutional failure, while right-leaning coverage frames Musk as a private-sector solution stepping in during a government breakdown.
That detailed analysis is exactly why I rely on Ground News. Here’s why I recommend it:
See the full picture: Compare how left, center, and right sources cover the same story
Reveal blindspots: Instantly see what one side covers and the other side ignores
Dig deeper: See insights including headline comparisons, outlet reliability, and even the ownership behind publications
If you care about cutting through narrative spin, breaking out of your echo chamber, and seeing the full picture, Glenn Show readers can get 40% off the unlimited access Ground News Vantage plan at ground.news/glenn.
This is just one segment from a fantastic Q&A session. I’ll release the whole thing in the coming days, but you’ll have to become a full subscriber to receive it. So if you enjoyed this clip and you want more, please consider becoming a full subscriber. Your support is more important now than ever, and I want you to have access to every minute of The Glenn Show. We here at The Glenn Show cannot do what we do without your support. So to all of you, but especially my full subscribers, thank you.
