1. Au Mexique, l’État de Sinaloa vient de bannir la corrida, en la classant parmi les actes de cruauté animale. C’est le cinquième État mexicain à prendre cette décision, qui reflète un désamour national pour cette pratique : un sondage de 2013 révélait que 73 % des Mexicains voulaient voir la corrida disparaître. 2. En Islande, c’est la chasse à la baleine qui va disparaître. Le gouvernement vient d’annoncer qu’il renoncerait à cette pratique à partir de 2024 (année de fin de son autorisation de pêche actuelle) suite au déclin de la demande. Seuls deux autres pays chassent encore la baleine, le Japon et la Norvège. 3. Au Canada, un homme de 80 ans est parvenu à sauver sept personnes d’un blizzard. Alors que trois véhicules étaient perdus en pleine nuit au milieu d’une tempête de neige, une passagère avait lancé un appel sur les réseaux sociaux. Le message a fini par atteindre un retraité vivant à proximité, et il est allé affronter les éléments pour aller secourir les sept personnes et les ramener chez lui. 4. Aux États-Unis, un joueur de machine à sous vient d’être retrouvé afin de recevoir les 229 000 dollars qu’il avait gagnés sans le savoir. Tout ça à cause d’une machine défectueuse qui ne lui a pas dit qu’il avait gagné le jackpot. Mais finalement, après presque un mois de travail, le casino de Las Vegas où ça s’est produit a pu retrouver sa trace et lui donner son argent. 5. Au Cambodge, des associations viennent de libérer dans la nature 51 des tortues les plus menacées au monde. Ce sont des tortues royales, une espèce au bord de l’extinction. Les bébés sont donc placés dans des centres dès leur éclosion, afin d’assurer leur survie jusqu’à l’âge adulte et de les préparer au mieux à la survie dans la nature. Cette libération est la plus grande jamais entreprise. |
